i read some articles on the training and requirements from both the army and marines and realized that the marines are forgiving with the weight issue.

- Marines put you on a diet during training if overweight

- Army does the same with BMI but if overweight you can't get in unless you change.

is it true?

  1. if you dont make weight, they tape you.

If you dont make tape you are given teh choice of taking the ARMS test or the army recruit motivation and strength test

IE do pushups and stair stepper

Its not given at all meps, only about 25? and the stair stepper is no joke, 5 minutes at a rapid pace, to a metronome. can only stumble twice.

  2. Military Medical Standards for Enlistment, Appointment, or Induction

  3. The Marines have higher standards than the Army. They have a harder PFT, wieght standards and are more gung ho than the Army. But what you most likely read is that they let some people be slightly overwieght as long as they can pass the PFT with a 1st class.
