Army same day induction

Do they still have a policy of ...if you walk into the recruiters and want to leave that day, that they can put you in a recruit holding company till your MEPS stuff is done? (I already did 12 yrs USN , asking about this for a friend of the family......)

  1. You can leave the same day (actually as I recall I think you actually leave the next day) but it is completely dependent upon MOS/rate/job availability.  Everything is billeted out.  They won't let you sit in holding companies anymore because that person's salary counts against the training budget until he is out of the training pipeline.  These numbers are briefed weekly (if not daily) to the comptrollers and at flag levels.

    In the Navy this typically means you are going to get one of the unskilled jobs since skilled billets are usually filled with DEPer's months ahead of when they leave.
