The Bundesliga club’s sporting director convinced the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international player to return to his former team, even though, the club official claimed the switch was risky due to financial constraints.
Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen suggested that he is lucky to land their priority summer transfer target Rafael van der Vaart to the Dinosaur outfit. He said that the transfer might cost him his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 if the star player fails
to perform for the club and involves a huge gamble from his side.
The director was briefed at the start of the transfer market that there would be no funds to get new acquisitions without first selling the current players, the 55-year-old still went on and bagged the Dutch star and Martin Jiracek
so that the German side can improve and compete for major honours in the ongoing season.
"A month ago we had no money to invest. We had a meeting with the board. That’s where we were told: 'Without selling a player we cannot do any transfer for a new player," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The calculated move seems to be ineffective until now as the club has failed to get off the mark without even a single point, and facing back to back defeats in the new campaign. Arnesen appears to be confident by his transfer
dealings and said that they will eventually pay-off.
"I said three weeks ago that it is better to take a calculated risk. The question was whether we could do that. We could not have bought Van der Vaart without help from outside," he mused.
The supervisor is satisfied to convince the playmaker to make a switch from English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs to Hamburg on the deadline day.
"I'm thankful that we could get a player like Rafa. That such a player comes to HSV. If you want players of a certain level, they must want to come to Hamburg,” he finally concluded.
Arnesen further added that he also spoke to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 but the striker rejected the offer as he joined Juventus in an ambition to play UEFA Champions League football.
