  1. Seems like dosages to me. Perhaps the Cs and Xs are differential between tinctures and homeopathic tabs. I believe the 6 and 30 are concentrations... 6 times concentrated, etc.

p.s. I'd like to thank the answerer below me... awesome info!

  2. They appear to be the potencies of homeopathic remedies.I am a Natural Health Consultant and these are in the traning to learn of different potencies of different homeopathic remedies for different symptoms.Hope  this is helpful.

  3. idk aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

  4. They represent homeopathic dilutions - number of times removed from the Mother Tincture.  The MT is the basic preparation of the remedy from the source material (plant, mineral, sometimes animal tissue).

The letters come from Roman numerals with X being a ten times dilution and potentization with each dilution.  The C is for 100.  They usually run a 6X, 12X and then a 30C.  I have never seen a 6C or a 30X.

So the X's have more of the original material present than the C's (they run up to 1M, 10M and LM - the M is the Latin for thousand).

If you are using a remedy like Arnica* (pretty much a "first-aid" remedy) for a sprain or a bruise, you would most likely take an X three times a day for a short period, whereas you would take a C maybe once a day.  If you were working through a qualified homeopathic practitioner you might be taking a 200C as often and as long as you were told to do so.

  5. Well Old Cat lady gave you some useful information but her explanations are a bit difficult to understand. Yet she should get best answer.

MT which she explained means mother tincture is full strength. A tincture is an extraction of some constituent from a natural substance that would not be useful in its raw form.  Tinctures are usually alcohol extractions and the MT would be the materials that are soluble in alcohol.  (Ethyl alcohol of course all other alcohols are deadly poison.)

I understand the nomenclature (fancy word for what the X’es and C’es mean) but a 30C dilution would be a dilution of 3000/1. and might I suppose also be properly designated as 3M (M meaning thousand)

The first step in making a serial dilution is to take a known volume (usually 1ml) of stock and place it into a known volume of distilled water (usually 9ml). This produces 10ml of dilute solution. The dilute solution has 1ml of extract /10ml. This is a 10 fold dilution. The concentration of stock in each ml of the diluted solution is .1ml.  The technique used to make a single dilution is repeated sequentially using a more and more dilute solution as the "stock" solution. At each step 1ml of the previous dilution is added to 9ml of distilled water. Each step results in a 10 fold change in the concentration from the previous concentration.
