Question:

Arnold Palmer Drink?

My future in laws have never heard of an "Arnold Palmer" drink.... half lemonade, half iced tea. They swear no one really knows about it, even though it is mass produced by Arizona Drinks. Wikipedia isn't much help. Does anyone know:

How long has it been around?

When did it start being served in restaurants?

When could you start buying it in stores?

  1. Not sure but I had never heard of it either up until about  a year ago.  However Arnold Palmer is probably about 80 something so you could guess the drink has been around about half that long.

It may be a regional thing as to why they had never heard of it and quite frankly many people just order 1/2 lemonade-1/2 tea not knowing that other people call it an Arnold Palmer

    From Wiki:

One of Palmer's favorite drinks allegedly is a combination of half iced tea and half lemonade, a drink which is often referred to as an "Arnold Palmer" in his honor. It is now available under the name "The Original Arnold Palmer Tee"

  2. I never heard of it until I moved to Florida in 2002 and was working at a Country Club and someone ordered it. I had no idea what it was and had to ask someone, people thought I was crazy  but where I lived no one put lemon in their tea.

  3. It was named after pro golfer Arnold Palmer who was big in the 1960's. It's been served ever sinse.
