For those following the plight of CA residents - have you seen that Gov. Schwarzenegger has called the ruling 'Outrageous'

and must be overturned. Here is one link: http://cbs13.com/local/schwarzenegger.home.schooling.2.672163.html

Or just put Schwarzenegger and homeschooling CA in a search engine!

  1. I'm a California ps student, and this ruling even confuses me. If all of those homeschoolers came to public schools, it would be very difficult to fit all of us in somewhere. The Los Angeles schools are already huge. And I've heard that there are over 166,000 students being homeschooled in California. According to Wikipedia, there are 58 school districts in the state. That would mean that just over 2,862 students would be moving into each California school district. That number is huge!

Let's see what actually ends up happening with this ruling.

  2. It's kind of his own fault.  He decided to cut education funding by $5 billion.  The schools NEED more kids so they can get more funding from the feds.  If this dumb law sticks, the feds will be giving them a ton of extra money.

  3. I know it would be a high risk, with real children involved, but it would serve California's government to put the  166,000 homeschooled children in their state into their public schools and watch the  credentialed public school teaches  try to deal with it.

Our area schools have an open door policy, so in theory, the parents can sit in on classes.   That would be hilarious to watch the homeschool parents showing up with their kids in class each day and watching the officials deal with that too.

I sat in on my son's 3rd grade class to see a credentialed teacher tell a student that the word  "can't"  did not need an apostrophe because it did not show possession.  Ummm..ok... so what else are they "teaching"  in class...Perhaps that 2 plus 2 equals 5?
