  1. How exactly are we going to manage getting ALL parents to abide by  enforcing such a policy? Many parents don't think twice about dropping their kids off anywhere at ANY hour to roam around unsupervised and they even EXPECT other people to keep an eye out for their kids. Trust me, I have seen this done.

  2. I think they are PERFECT.  When I was growing up in the 70's & 80's, WE had curfews in place.  I was stopped twice riding my bike home from late theater-practice... school events were exempted and the school would hand out cards / tickets with the time you left.

I concur STRONGLY with your statement that it won't hurt their "social-life"... it worked for me, and has worked for my daughters (14 & 18).

We am living in a VERY nice and quiet community in California 50% of the time, and I am SHOCKED to see 12-16 year olds prowling about at 9-midnight.  The fine LIBERAL majority of our town threw out the 9pm curfew (from the 1950's) ten years ago... and just reinstated it after a RASH of vandalism and break-ins that were linked to teens.  Of course the PARENTS blamed it on a lack of government / school supervision. WOW... what about YOUR responsibilities liberal parents.

Just FYI, we spend the other 50% of our time in a mid-sized city in the Philippines, and parents THERE are ON their kids... there ARE things to do from 9pm - 12am... but all are on Friday-Saturday and are parent-supervised.

  3. The tragedy is that all teenagers are being tarred with the same brush. It's wrong to punish all teenagers because of the behaviour of a small minority. If we don't treat them with respect how can we expect to be respected in return?

  4. Absolutely

  5. I think it is more making sure they can have their hours of fun, but still be back in time to get homework done and be in bed so as to get enough sleep to achieve their full potential the following day.

  6. yeah i guess theyre good, but i'm glad i dont  have 1, lol.

  7. Um, this is kind of funny, I looked this up, and found a source about rural men using condoms.  I happen to find that funny.  Oh, by the way, yes, it is good to have a curfew for people under sixteen.  Alright?

  8. Bring back Borstal and National Service, then maybe we can reclaim the streets.

  9. Good time. and yes at least you know they are safe from harm and not doing anything they shouldn't be doing because when they get bored thats when they get into trouble.

  10. No I do not agree ........

Unless teenagers are allowed some freedom to prove that they are (or can be) responsible they will remain 'children', and not mature into adulthood.

I and many others were in the services at the age of sixteen and many still go to fight wars at the age of seventeen.

Remember that what can be done after 9.00pm can just as easily be done before 9.00pm.

  11. yeah i guess even though they may not like it

  12. In the longterm they probably go on the internet and learn how to make bombs.

  13. Curfews are for over 30 year olds that are scared of anything that doesn't conform with their "right" ideas.

  14. saw something to do with this on tv news today where there is a voluntary curfew being tried. personally i can see the logic behind it but its not fair to punish the kids who aren't doing anything wrong. curfew should be enforced if necessary to stop disruptive/criminal behaviour. let everyone else have their freedom. parents have a responsibility to know where there kids are, who they are with and what their plans are, this means interacting with your kids and being involved with their lives, curfews are cheating!!!! Kids need to learn to respect themselves and others. they need to have the opportunity to do this in their community. The police have come up with this plan in order to make their lives easier, suprise suprise!

  15. Yes I believe curfews are a good thing. I am 16, and my parents have always made sure i am home by 9pm the latest. It gets unsafe outside at night, and I think that the way my parents have taught me is how I will teach my children.

  16. I'm sure a curfew would benefit them.

  17. Only if the curfew was to actually work (not going to happen). Kids who have no problem with killing each other won't think twice about breaking a curfew. And it won't stop the crime and anti-social behaviour just being moved to before 9pm.

  18. well yeah but its not very fare for the teens..

if you did that than they probably wind up having no friends and they would wind up having a bad social life leading to depression than maybe drugs than the drugs will mess with there mind and they will attempt suicide but fail and they get sent to a mental hospital and you have to live with it on your chest that this is your fault even though that you try to deny it

  19. More or less yes...as a teen I think a good curfew is 11

Good kids will know not to do bad things..and if they do they need to learn from their mistakes; you can't protect them forever and it is better we know now with our parents around to comfort us than realize it when we are away and making bad choices.

Also, if there is a standard curfew the community isn't any safer..bad kids will still sneak out anyway to get away from their parents. Blame it on their parents, but they probably don't care where or what there kids do.

  20. I think curfews are a good idea. When i was younger, i thought it was stupid, because I thought I was invincable LOL.. but thats kinda how young people think. I think it's great.

  21. Most definitely!!

  22. ya know what that's a great idea. why stop there though.  we should just put a chip in every child that makes a really loud ringing sound in the kids ear if they are out of range of their home after 9 pm as to discourage them from breaking curfew. or maybe we should just give all the kids a lobotomy so that they wont even think of going outside after 9.  but we can keep the chip in them too just in case they start thinking a little too much for their own good. lol, silly kids always trying to go out and stuff

edit... ok who gave me a thumbs down? i guess you dont care about our children or something?? sorry to let you know, but children are our most important asset and must be protected at all costs!!
