  1. My newborn kittens had fleas and my vet recommended Frontline. Apparently the pipettes are not particularly good for younger kittens - but Frontline do have a Frontline spray which can be used for kittens from 2 days old.

It was fantastic - and it lasted for 2 treatments for my 2 cats and 4 kittens :)

  2. We gave our kitten a bath as soon as we got him from a home that was flea ridden.  We had to pick all the fleas out and then we gave him a half dose of flea meds from 1800petmeds.  Your kitten should be alright.  THe fleas are probably worse for him since they can cause him to become anemic or even get a disease.

  3. Unfortunately you have learned what most pet owners have.  The generic stuff you buy at the pet store is garbage and sometimes it can even cause violent reactions.  You can not apply another topical medication for at least a month and I would not recommend a flea bath.  When you use too many flea products it can become toxic to your cat.  The only suggestion I have is to bath with a regular shampoo and use a flea comb to try to get off any fleas.  If you have not treated your house, you need to do so.  Treat it as you would with lice because fleas are much more difficult to get rid of.  Get a good area spray, your vet should have some and spray your house with it.  Wash any bedding and clean out your vacuum cleaner bag.  Good Luck!

  4. I've seen Animal Cops shows where they gave flea baths to kittens.  But I'd ask your vet first.  You don't need to make an appt and pay, just ask over the phone.

  5. Flea medicines from pet stores or grocery stores do not work.  The only ones that will are Frontline or Advantage that you will have to get from a vet or a local shelter.  It will cost a bit more, but you will see a HUGE difference.  No fleas.  Good luck~

  6. I agree with Cara.  "Advantage" or "Frontline" are the most effective.  Be sure to get the one for kittens.  1800PetMeds or PetSuppliesDelivered is generally less expensive than you would get it at the vet or pet shop.

I have used those products and found them to be more effective than others on the market, or even bathing solutions.

  7. Advantage or Frontline are the only ones that really do the job. Our kitten are one month old and the vet had us divide one tube of advantage between the three. worked like a charm :-)

  8. How I got rid of fleas and bugs from my home

You will need to purchase a simple bug/fly zapper; the type you use on a patio to kill flying insects.  You can buy a small one that will cover a large area of your house at most home improvement stores for as little as 20.00-30.00 dollars.  For faster results you can use one bug zapper for each room.  However the fleas do gravitate to the bug zapper’s light once night sets in and all the lights in your house are out. So one should work for a small home, just make sure to place it in the room where the most fleas are seen or felt.   Place the zapper on the floor in a corner behind a piece of furniture so kids and pets won’t play with or bother it. Set it on a plate or pie tin for easy cleaning up of the zapped bugs, you will be killing all bugs in your home as well, and then plug it in.  Remember, it is a piece of electrical equipment.  You have to use caution in where you put it. At night the fleas automatically want to go to a light, when they hop in to the bug zapper light they get fried! You can actually hear little, zits, zits when the fleas are getting zapped! All GONE! Keep the carpet vacuumed daily until your flea problem is under control, this will help tremendously in getting the fleas eggs out of your home and carpet faster!!  I am not responsible for misuse of the above item.  Use full caution in placing your bug zapper to the safest place.  It will work for months, even years; it will continue to kill bugs in your home as long as the light is on.  The bulb can be replaced once it burns out.  The light bulb can be purchased at most home improvement stores. http://www.samstores.com/_images/product...

  9. Cheap flea treatments DO NOT WORK. They don't help the problem and they can make your pets sick. I always use Frontline on my babies and it works great. Oh and you should take care of the flea problem ASAP before they get all over your house.
