Around Corners thunders to victory at Hall Green
Friday night saw Around Corners displaying a fabulous show in a 480 metre long Grade A1 heat at Hall Green. Many exciting events took place at the venue, but a classy performance by the black b***h was probably the highlight of the day.
Despite going wide early on, Droopys Kewell’s daughter, out of Moyvane Star held her lead throughout the race. She did not relax even for a second, and maintained a good speed all the way through, winning £145.
After coming out of the sixth trap, G. Ballentine’s trainee took just 29.13 seconds to complete her run. Looney Time gave her a tough time, but a 1 ½ lengths win eventually went to the 5 to 2 odds holder.
Looney Time, trained by P. Sallis, also demonstrated a fine show, and his speed was quite impressive. However, getting bumped at the second bend cost him a lot. The son of Droopys Maldini, out of Caseys Princess started off the race from the third
trap, carrying the winning chances of 11 to 2.
Since he was sent off with relatively lower odds, his brilliant performance would have been a bit shocking for some racing experts. The dog reached the winning post in 29.25 seconds, grabbing the runner-up position by 2 ¼ lengths.
Jumeirah Dilemma managed to nab the third position. The black dog ended up among the top three after a very close contest with All Wonders, and Seapoint Sprint.
The trio ran neck to neck in an aim to seal the third position, but the glory was finally wrested by Jumeirah Dilemma. Droopys Maldini’s son, out of Hi Tech finished only a head’s distance ahead of All Wonders, who finished fourth.
Jumeirah Dilemma at 4 to 1 covered the area in just 29.43 seconds, whereas All Wonders’ finish time was 29.44 seconds. J. Meek’s trainee, who was sent at 9 to 2, was followed by the 9 to 4 favourite, Seapoint Sprint. The high status b***h was bumped
at second bend, and could only surpass the back marker.
Drink Up Delwood, Si Senor’s daughter, out of Delwood Karen, completed the order of finish, clocking the distance in 29.49 seconds. The b***h was sent out on the track with the starting price of 7 to 2.
After doing nothing special earlier this year, Around Corners has finally broken her losing streak. It was a welcome victory for the black b***h, who will be a huge threat in the forthcoming heats.
