  1. Put a brick in the tank of your toilet, this lessens the amount of water used each time.

Have a pitcher of water in the fridge instead of letting the facet run until it gets cold.

Only wash full loads in the dishwasher, and washer.

  2. Turn off the lights you don't use.  Clean the filter on your furnace so that it is more efficient.  Get a rain barrel to collect water for plants.  Start composting.  Be careful about the brick in the toilet but you might want to just put an open jar in the tank... bricks sometimes break into gravel and it is a bit hard to get out of the tank and toilet.  Turn off computers and electric devices when they are not used.  Turn the heat down and wear a sweater or turn the A/C off.  Inflate your tires so that you get better mileage and your tires last longer.  Recycle almost everything.  Use rechargable batteries.  Take every piece of junk mail and stuff it in the self-addressed envelope and mail it to them with a request to stop sending junk mail to you.  Get on the direct mail website and ask them to stop sending mail to you.  Ask your banks, etc. to not mail statements to you.  Get rid of magazine subscriptions you don't use.  Give food you don't use to the food bank.  Landscape with native plants.  Use foam to seal the cracks in wall and behind the outlets that let in cold air.  Walk instead of using the car.  Research the candidate that will follow your environmental proclivities.

  3. keep the lights off unless you need to.

try to take timed showers. say everyone in the house gets 6 minutes to take a shower.

when brushing teeth..dont let the water run

unplug things you do not use everyday...

    ~~The microvave

    ~~The cell phone charger

    ~~Even the television

  4. change your light bulbs to those energy saving bulbs i dont know the name for it but it has like a spiral look to it turn of water when your not using it same thing with lights. instead of using plastic bags you can buy this reusable bags at your local grocery store that you can purchase. open windows to get fresh air instead of using fans. unplug stuff when your not using it like cell phone chargers, you will save the earth and you wont have to pay a lot of money on bills. by changing this things and encouraging others to change you will help the earth in so many ways and it will help you to the earth would be happy and so would you. i hope this works!

  5. I bought shower aeroators, kitchen faucet aerators, i also bought energy efficient light bulbs, you know the kind that looks like a twrily candy cane. I also rode my bike to work, which is all up hill, not fun, but good exercise that i lack.

Thats what i say, drive less, and start biking to work, school, outing. etc

    my favorite question!

there are always little things we can do around that house that can make the difference!

when brushing your teeth, turn of the water in between wetting your brush and rinsing. its all the more water! you could save 100's of gallons  over a year depending on how many people in the house hold.

unless your literally in the room, turn off the lights, alot of people like to leave their bedroom light on even if they're just hopping to the store to get milk but turning it off even to get a drink of water saves alot of electricity!

buy new light bulbs, the special electricity saving kind, they may be more expensive but its worth it!

if you have to run to the store down the street for a gallon of milk , bike, walk, scooter, what ever it takes! this will save you money on gas and will save from gas immitions

    not to mention getting exercise!

good luck, and thanks for doing your best to try and save the earth!
