Around how much do you think a person would make if they owned a daycare?

I know i want to do something with kids and I would either be a grade K teacher or own a daycare I'm trying to see how much each of them make to see witch one I want to do in college. i know grade K makes around 40,000 a year up to 50,000 but what about owning a daycare? by the way i am around Philly PA

  1. Well, owning a daycare comes with much more responsibility and lots of legal liability.

    You would have a big overhead as you are essentially running a business. Insurance is expensive, and the board of health has to inspect you. You have to be approved by the state, get a license, etc. etc. You also would not get any health ins., as you would not be working for anyone, so that is another out of pocket expense.

    Sounds like the teachers in your area are much more well paid than where I come from.


  2. It would probably be about the same. I am from Albany Ny and most daycares charge about $130 a week per kid and are allowed up to 6 kids without needing an assistant. That equals about $40560.
