i dont know if most americans agree to arrange marriage. its like you're legally married but no feelings attached with each other. its just that one of you needs to have a greencard by marrying a US citizen. most filipinos do that by conniving another filipino who is a US citizen. if caught, is it punishable by law? can i tell the US embassy for this? how long does an illegal alien gets a greencard if he/she marries a US citizen by arrange marriage?

  1. I am not American but any marriage which is arranged so that the other party can get a green card or visa for another country will be against the law. I would imagine so anyway.

  2. Marriage fraud for immigration purposes is punishable by law, and both the alien and the US citizen /US Green Card holder can be charged.  Here are some of the laws that apply - 18 USC 371, charged both; 18 USC 1001, charged both; 18 USC 1546, charged both; 8 USC 1324, charged the US citizen/Green Card holder; 8 USC 1325, charged both; and 8 USC 1306, charged the alien.

If a person acquires US citizenship through fraud, the person can be denaturalized, and then deported.  As the attitudes in America shift more towards controlling immigration, more and more offenders are going to be caught up in such criminal schemes.

  3. An arranged marriage for the sole purpose of gaining a green card IS punishable by law. Written on the I-130 (document to petition for an alien relative) it says:

By law, you may be imprisoned for not more than five years or fined $250,000, or both, for entering into a marriage contract for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws. In addition, you may be fined up to $10,000 and imprisoned for up to five years, or both, for knowingly and willfully falsifying or concealing a material fact or using any false document in submitting this petition.

  4. The things the others have told you so far are quite acccurate. I would only add that if you have specific information that you think would be helpful in uncovering immigration fraud, by all means contact the embassy in Manila. Of course, it won't help very much simply to say marriage fraud exists in the Philippines. Everyone there already knows that and that's why the embassy in Manila has the largest anti-fraud office of any American embassy anywhere in the world. There are about 10 people there who do nothing else but investigate possible fraud. So, they will be very happy to see whatever you have. Plus, there is an immigation office there as well that also works on these things. So, if you're serious, and have some real information, contact the consular section http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3029.htm...
