  1. An officer has a right to request an ID to verify your identity.  There are two scenarios to consider when deciding if your rights were violated.  First, if an officer is dispatched to an area, and you fit the description of a suspect, they can detain you until they verify your identity.  Second, if an officer simply comes up to you for no reason (no laws were broken and he was not dispatched), you can argue strongly against it.  I'm not saying the police won't get rough with you, or take you in, but your lawyer would take care of it after the fact.  I'm not an expert, by the way.  But getting grilled about your identity for NO reason does not sound reasonable to me, and I'd argue against it - maybe a male cop is trying to get my personal info, or is racially targetting me, etc.

  2. The video doesn't give the grounds for what was going on.  We have no idea if the guy did anything wrong or was just being a noisy jerk.

  3. Duhhhh its right that you where detained because they need to ID you somehow........

Thats how they get illegal immigrants when hey get pulled over or something of that sort

  4. You were not arrested, in fact the cop specifically informs you that being detained is not the same as being arrested.

In addition to that, she also requests that you go on home, so I guess you weren't detained for very long either......
