The former Rossoneri boss unsure of his former employer’s credentials of defending their league title, and has concerns over their squad
Former A.C Milan manager, Arrigo Sacchi, has tipped Juventus as favourites to beat his former employers to the Scudetto.
Juventus currently lead the league standings with 44 points from 20 matches played thus far, while Milan are not far behind with 43 points from same number of matches. The battle for the 2011/12 Scudetto has been tipped as a two
horse race by many pundits, but Sacchi has further shortened the prediction by claiming that Juventus will win it come the end of the season.
The former Real Madrid director of football heaped praise on Rossoneri manager, Massimiliano Allegri, but insists that the manager has a very complex looking squad with many players. However, he believes that the Old Lady have
fewer men and have the right kind of players to win the title.
Sacchi also raised questions over the ageing Milan squad and insists that the team looks too old.
While talking to the reporters, Arrigo Sacchi insisted,
“Allegri is a great Coach, he has a squad that is perhaps the most complex, but with many individuals, where Juventus are less complex but have fewer individuals. I saw Milan last night and I had doubts that some of the players
were not my age.”
The 65-year-old also believes that the Bianconeri have advantage over their rivals because they only have domestic competitions to take care of, unlike Milan, who are also engaged in European commitments.
“The Bianconeri are going to win the Scudetto because they have an advantage, to not participate in Europe, and there is a big push by all that are there. Juve are playing a continuous, international style of game, with good players
but few who are excellent.”
Allegri led the Rossoneri to their first title in seven years in his debut campaign with Milan last season. The tactician has totally revamped the squad, and has added some quality players over the last year or so.
The Italian Champions have also qualified for the semi-finals of Coppa Italia, and are in the last 16 round of UEFA Champions League.
