The recent transfer clock-watch which ends on 4th of September 2012, has already created much hype and promises to ensure an entertaining Ligue 1 campaign.
The defensive lap, which was quiet evident last campaign in French outfit Paris-Saint Germain, and the reason which led to the favorites being pipped to the title by Montpellier, has lead to the club signing a word-class centre-back in form of Thiago Silva.
Ligue 1, whose teams defences are generally considered relatively fragile compared to the other European leagues, ensures a befitting response with this expensive signing, to those who talked about its fragility. The Brazilian’s presence in the league is
definitely going to raise the standards of defensive units implied by teams.
Although, over the period of a few campaigns, Ligue 1 has produced outstanding talents in terms of attacking midfielders and strikers, what the league generally lacked was the presence of big names.
The arrival of the very expensive Zlatan Ibrahimovic has overcome this menace too. His arrival to the league is certainly going to raise the competition in terms of attacking onslaughts. Also, the goal scoring machine is expected to break all-time goal scoring
records here, guaranteeing entertainment to its followers all around.
Playmaking has been a trademark of French outfits in recent times, with the league over a period of time, producing numerous highly talented players in the midfield. Belgian playmaker, Eden Hazard, has emerged as one of the brightest emerging talents in
Europe.
The explosive attacking midfielder had been a subject of interest from football giants all around the world, in particular, by the Premier League. In a recent move, the Lille playmaker left the league to join for the current European Champions, Chelsea in
a 32 million pounds scoop. The playmaking of the Belgian ace will surely be missed.
Olivier Giroud, the French International, who after impressing in Ligue 2, was signed by Montpellier in their bid to challenge the biggest prize in France, not only guided the club to title glory but was also their top scorer last season.
The services rendered by the 25-year-old to the champions earned him an interest from English giants Arsenal, and was quick enough to sign for the Gunners in a 9.6 million pounds switch. Montpellier will certainly be looking for his replacement.
Whilst Lille lost the services of their ace playmaker Eden Hazard, the three-time Ligue 1 champions were quick to add Chelsea’s midfield sensation, Salomon Kalou to their squad. Though, he played for Chelsea on the left wing, playmaking is what he is best
at.
The Ivorian International adds an extra dimension to the squad and with his services, the currently third-placed side can undoubtedly challenge for title glories in the years to come.
In a stunning move, the Ligue 1 mega rich outfit, Paris-Saint Germain, in a massive 45 million Euros scoop, have secured the services of the 19-year-old attacking midfield from Sao Paulo, Lucas Moura. The teenager was subjected to heavy interest from giants
in Premier League as well as in the Serie A.
At one point it was thought that Moura was set to join Manchester United but the midnight scoop of the starlet by the French club augured well to establish the power of the French league over others. The arrival of the Brazilian sensation will serve as a
bright prospect for the league to attract young talented players from across the world to its fold.
