Arron Afflalo believes Orlando Magic can build something special – NBA Update
Arron Afflalo is now an Orlando Magic player as he was traded over in the four team block buster trade which saw Dwight Howard move to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Magic will be the third team; Afflalo is going to be representing in his six year career as he becomes a part of the re-building process for the organization. However the 26 year old shooting guard believes that being involved
in the re-building is an opportunity in itself.
"Change always brings mystery,'' Afflalo said. "It always brings doubt. But on the positive side it brings a lot of opportunity...It's a good time to really come together and build something special.''
Change is something that Orlando organization is going through. They have a new general manager, a rookie head coach and now they have said good-bye to the man who had been the face of this organization for the past eight years.
It will be a long time before Orlando would be taking significant steps in their re-building process. As part of the Afflalo trade, they have acquired Al Harrington, Moe Harkless, Nikola Vucevic, Josh McRoberts and Christian Eyenga
which gives them a pretty inexperienced roster.
To Afflalo however, it is part of the learning curve. He was part of the Denver team survived after the departure of Carmelo Anthony and was part of the re-building process for UCLA in his college days.
The player was a key part of the Nuggets roster last season which saw them make it to the first round of the playoffs. During that campaign, Afflalo averaged a career best of 15.2 points per game. At the Nuggets, he was part of
a young and running group that ran up and down the court very well but in the Magic rotation, Afflalo will be one of the senior players alongside Jameer Nelson and J.J. Reddick and will have to settle in more a defensive mould.
For him to have a successful future with Orlando he will need to be one of the leaders. Working hard will also be a key to.
"Just to compete,'' Afflalo said” Pretty much how I look at it is those things pretty much take care of themselves. Predictions are fun. They're entertaining. But at the end of the day, the game has to be played.
"The idea is to get better. You never know what can happen...We all know nothing is impossible. So, in time.''
