Arron Afflalo looking forward to take a central role with Orlando Magic – NBA News
Arron Afflalo made a name for himself last season with the Denver Nuggets, when he gave consistent performances night in and night out as the Nuggs used their fast paced transition style offense to march into the first round of
the playoffs. At that stage, they gave the Los Angeles Lakers a tough time by pushing them to seven games before eventually losing out.
One of the keys to that run and gun style of play was Afflalo, and he will now take his talents to Florida, as the newest member of the Orlando Magic.
Afflalo was a part of a blockbuster four team trade that landed Dwight Howard in Los Angeles with the Lakers. LAL sent Andrew Bynum to Philadelphia, and the Sixers sent Andre Iguodala to the  Nuggets, who in return, sent Afflalo
to the Magic.
While in Barcelona, Afflalo talked with Hoopshype and commented on the recent trade and his move to Orlando.
“Yeah, I’m happy. I just wanted to thank the Denver organization, the teammates that you play with, the fans, but I think it’s a great opportunity there in Orlando from a player standpoint. I plan on being the best player I can
be, period. I’d love to continue to grow as a person and as a player offensively and defensively. Personally I don’t think there’s a better place to do it at this time than Orlando,” said Afflalo.
Although Afflalo was making a name for himself in the Nuggets roster and was particularly liked by head coach George Karl, he was still a role player coming off the bench for them.
In Orlando, Afflalo will have the opportunity of taking a starting position with a team that in undergoing major changes. He has the opportunity to prove himself as a legitimate starter and can prove his game to the staff. He,
along with Jameer Nelson and Glen Davis will be the stars of the Magic roster next season, and Afflalo will have a tremendous opportunity of starting over and proving himself as a starter rather than just a role player.
Afflalo seems to be fine with his trade, and looks excited about the opportunity to play in Orlando. It is a risk with a certain level of uncertainty, but if it works out in his favour, it might be the opportunity he has been waiting
for to arrive at the NBA stage.
