  1. You need your remote to access all your inputs I'm guessing.

First you should have a antenna button on the remote.  That will change you back and forth from your HD antenna and your cable box.  When on the HD antenna setting you will see only the HD channels.

On the cable box, you may need to flip through the tv/video buttons until you find your signal.

    Good luck.

  2. What kind of set top box (STB) did you get?  If you just got one with the $40 government coupon, that is digital, but not HD.  If it just has composite (single RCA jack for video) or S-video (plus sound cables), that is not HD.

For HDTV you typically need to connect the STB to the TV with HDMI or DVI, although, if the STB has VGA that should work as well.  Component (3 video cables plus sound cables) might be HD, but is technically analog and has never been as pixel perfect as HDMI, DVI or VGA on TVs I own.

From a DVD player (other than a PC) only HDMI or DVI would be HD (not component).  Although, my laptop does an excellent job up converting DVDs on VGA to the native resolution of an HDTV.

  3. You probably have an SD set top box, which, although they can see HD signals, cannot show them. This might mean you have to get a HD set top box.

Also, you may be living in area, like I do, where no HD programming is broadcast. Most WIN stations do not broadcast HD, because they do not have the equipment to do so. Call and ask your TV stations (or visit their websites) for more details.
