Arsène Wenger decides to take touchline ban tonight

Arsène Wenger has decided to accept the FA’s of using insulting and/or abusive language and behaviour amounting to improper conduct.

The Arsenal manager has decided to accept an £8,000 fine and a one match touchline ban. The ban comes into immediate effect with Wenger now suspended for tonight’s League Cup third-round match against Tottenham Hotspur.

The decision frees up the Frenchman to return to the bench this weekend when his Arsenal team take on West Bromwich Albion at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Wenger did receive some good news today, learning club captain Cesc Fàbregas will only be out for up to three weeks. Early prognosis suggests Fàbregas could return in two weeks, but the Gunners are likely to take it easy with their key player.

If he does miss the full three weeks he will be touch-and-go for the game against champions and league leaders Chelsea on October 3. Fàbregas, however, is remaining positive about his injury.

“Good news on my injury. I have some fluid but nothing bad in the muscle. I hope i can be playing in 2 weeks,” he said via Twitter.
