Arsenal's Jack Wilshere refuses to concede Premier League title race: EPL news
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has refused to concede the race for the Barclays Premier League title, claiming that the Gunners will continue to fight for the trophy until the very last game of the season. Arsenal are currently seven points adrift of Manchester
United. Crucially though, the Gunners still have a game in hand over the their arch-rivals.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 believes that his side has a real shot of going all the way to the Premier League title this season, especially since Manchester United will be weakened by their congested fixture list. Unlike Arsenal, the Red Devils are still in the FA Cup
and Champions League competitions, and Wilshere believes that Ferguson's men will be stretched thin by their duties on all three fronts.
However, perhaps the most important factor of all in deciding the destination of the Premier League title, is the looming encounter between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium in May. Should United slip up between now and that time, that
match may just be the title decider.
Speaking on his team's chances of winning the Barclays Premier League title this season, Wilshere said, "Playing in Europe (in the Champions League) is going to catch up with them (Manchester United). We have got a week in between every game now to prepare
ourselves, so it can only be good for us. We have got a game in hand and United have still got to come to the Emirates."
He added, "If we win those games, we're within one point of them."
The midfielder also took the time to lavish praise on legendary Arsenal shot-stopper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jens-Lehmann-c18297, who played his first match for the Gunners in almost three years against Blackpool on Sunday. Wilshere believes that Lehmann's experience will be crucial as
Arsenal push for Premier League glory this season.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international said, "We can learn from him. He was in the Invincibles [2003-04] so he knows what it takes to win the title."
Arsenal are currently in second place in the league standings with 62 points.
