Arsenal's manager Arsene Wenger looking to strengthen his squad in the summer transfer window: EPL News
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has once again insisted that he will spend on new players to strengthen his team for the 2011-12 season.
After being the title contenders for all the four major competitions for major part of the season, Arsenal blew the chance and are left with nothing to win in the ongoing 2010-11 season. Their trophy drought now extends to another season, as the Gunners
have not managed to win silverware since the FA Cup win in 2005.
Wenger is widely criticised for his focus on the youth and his stubbornness for not spending on new players. Even the Arsenal fans have started to lose patience with the Frenchman and have voiced opinions for his axe. However, the 61-year-old still insists
that his squad has the quality to challenge for the trophies in the next season and only need minor re-enforcements.
Talking to the reporters Wenger said, “We have the quality that is for sure. We have to strengthen the squad where it needs and make the right decision on that front. It [transfers] is always in my mind every day.”
The former AS Monaco manager is disappointed with the way the season has ended for his team and insists that it is not due to the lack of quality players in his team, but because of the hectic fixture schedule.
"The team have had an outstanding attitude and will not be rewarded because of small things, but small things cost you. It is frustrating because the team has produced the efforts. We have to be realistic that it [the title] is very unlikely now, but we
have to finish as well as we can." added the Frenchman
With other teams like Manchester City, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Tottenham Hotspur spending heavily on new players, the battle for the top four spots is definitely going to increase next season. The Gunners must strengthen their squad to remain fighting for titles in
the 2011-12 season.
For now, Wenger faces a huge task to tie down his main players, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 and Cesc Fabregas, both of whom are linked with a move-away from the Emirates.
