Arsenal are without a doubt the most unpredictable team in the English Premier League. The Gunners recently lost to Norwich City, who were without a win in the Premier League up until the North London club visited Carrow Road.
How did Arsenal manage to lose to a team that had only recently been on the receiving end of a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809?
There were a lot of questions to be asked and fingers to be pointed. Arsenal were absolutely poor from the get-go. The team looked fresh out of ideas after Norwich scored the only goal of the game. Once again, there were questions to be asked of the Arsenal
defence who failed to close down Tettey for the initial shot, which was unconvincingly save by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vito-Mannone-c36276, but only to be tapped in by Grant Holt on the rebound.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Per-Mertesacker-c29680 was to blame as he failed to read Holt’s run, and was too slow to catch up to him once he pounced on the goal scoring opportunity.
Many would’ve tipped Arsenal to get back into the game, considering their recent fine form in the league. But this was not the case. Arsenal were clearly shaken by the goal, and Norwich were excellent as they defended their lead.
Leave it for Arsenal to mess things up in glorious fashion. I have never had a more painful time watching football than I did this Saturday. Let’s take a look at what went wrong for the Gunners.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santi-Cazorla-c32505, the signing of the season so far, had his worst game in an Arsenal jersey. The Spaniard had trouble creating any chances, and was caught in possession far too many times. Prior to the game, Arsene Wenger had said that Arsenal have the best
midfield in the league. However, the night at Carrow Road would prove otherwise.
Arsenal lacked the fluidity with which they play usually. They were having trouble coping with Norwich’s excellent pressing play, and were just under too much pressure. Cazorla tried his best to turn the match around, but it just wasn’t his day.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 just didn’t know what to do with the ball.
There is a serious need for another playmaker to step up and make things tick when Cazorla has an off day. As of now, Arsenal do not have anyone on the bench. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Oxlade Chamberlain could be the man to help in this department, but the youngster picked up
a hamstring strain as soon as he came on.
Injuries will once again be the club’s undoing, and if they fail to sign any quality players in the winter transfer window, their title ambitions will suffer. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Abou-Diaby-c3453 remains a huge liability, regardless of the talent and potential that he possesses.
The imminent return of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 does however appear to be the silver lining, but after so much time out on the sidelines, it remains to be seen how quick the player will bounce back to his usual brilliant self.
Arsenal also need to address their striker issues, with Olivier Giroud only scoring once in the league. The Gunners need the Frenchman to start scoring, otherwise they face a serious problem.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755. The Ivorian is the club’s top scorer, but has been very frustrating to watch otherwise. Arsene Wenger needs to sort out his midfield and attacking issues if he really
wants his team to be title contenders.
With almost more than half of the season to go, there is still time for the team to settle in. Smart buys in the winter transfer window will be key, and if Arsenal can keep their players fit, who knows, they just might sneak the title right under everyone’s
noses.
