Arsenal Midfield Options (Part 3)
During pre-season matches Samir Nasri was in superb form and every single Arsenal fan had high hopes for him this season. The young Frenchman played very well in the first half against Liverpool in the opening match of English Premier League but his second half wasn't so good. It would seem that he was unable to put great performances due to the injury he picked up in the first half. Samir Nasri had operation and now he is back in training. If Nasri can strike up a good partnership with Cesc Fabregas, they can form a formidable partnership and between them they have the ability to unlock the tightest of defences.
Moreover, Samir Nasri can also take the lead role in Arsenal’s midfield when Cesc Fabregas is not available for action. Nasri showed exactly his extraordinary control on ball and superb skills, with his super strike against Portugal Side FC Porto last season. That was a goal to remember, as the Frenchman cut passed more than 6 players and went on to find the goal for second time in that match. Arsenal won that match by 5-0. Samir Nasri is also capable of taking a good free kick and his ability at corners is fairly good too. And no wonder players of his class can prove fatal to any side in the World.
Another player with a lot of ability and full of skills is of course no other than Thomas Rosicky. But unfortunately Arsenal haven't seen the best of Czech footballer during his stay at Arsenal. Without a doubt Rosicky is a player of great potential. He is one of the classy players in this sport. Rosicky suffered a horrifying injury two and half years ago has severely curtailed him. But the signs are showing that Rosicky might just have got back to his best form for this season. He looked extremely good and had a lot of ball control when he came in for the last half hour against Liverpool. There was a huge impact of Thomas Rosicky when he was playing against Blackpool.
But when Cesc Fabregas returned, Rosicky lost his place against Blackburn Rovers. Most of the people don’t expect him to the first choice player this season. But Rosicky has got the capability to perform very well when called upon and not many teams in the world have a player of his ability waiting in the wings for a game.
Anoher option, Jack Wilshere, he spent half of last season on loan at Bolton and he seems to have found a hard edge to his game when the young midfielder was up there. Nobody would be surprised to see him get a red card at some time of this season. Again Jack Wilshere has fantastic ability and the young English midfielder is likely to play in a more attacking role but Wilshere will have to settle for a few appearances behind Cesc Fabregas at least.
Moreover, Eboue can be regarded as another defensive option for the Gunners. Although he plays as the right midfielder, he has every quality of a perfect central defensive midfielder. Arshavin can be another option to boost the attacking prospect of Arsenal’s midfield. Arshavin is a player with all natural qualities of striker and as well as attacking midfielder.
From my point of view, the ideal midfield would be Alex Song with Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri in front of them. Diaby can come in place of Aelx Song or can play along with Song in a more defensive role, which will eventually give Fabregas a more attacking role. Arsenal has Thomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere and Denilson as back up to them and hopefully Ramsey will return soon. It's a very strong midfield with some very good players in it and if Arsenal can get them playing at their best, they will control all the games and hurt any team in the league and even in Europe.
