Arsenal Not Planning to Buy in January

Arsenal’s Manager, Arsene Wenger, has announced that his side does not need any reinforcements in January. Therefore, the Arsenal squad will stay, more or less, the same despite some recent injuries to players.
The Gunners have performed well this season, but they lacked real consistency in their performances. At the moment, after 15 rounds of football in English Premier League, Arsenal is sitting in third place, behind Manchester United
and Chelsea. However, the Gunners are level on points with Chelsea, but behind them on goal difference. But, this does not show consistency from Arsenal in the Premier League. On the contrary, Arsenal lost three important matches at home, against Newcastle
United, West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham Hotspurs.
This means that Arsenal has performed much better in the matches played away from home. Their home record has been abysmal, and as a result Arsenal is still unable to move into the top position, despite Manchester United and Chelsea
dropping unexpected points. There have been many weak links in the Arsenal squad, but Wenger is insisting on retaining the same team for the remaining part of his season.
Arsene Wenger said in an interview that he would stick with his current squad. He said that he needed to work with his current players and make them play for the rest of the season. Wenger also told the press that the midfielder
Aaron Ramsey has been sent to the Championship side, Nottingham Forest, so that he would regain his match fitness. Before the midfielder returns to his club, Ramsey would play around seven fixtures, which would be enough for him to bounce back with Arsenal’s
first team.
At this point, Arsenal is looking at some of the injuries to their key players. Cesc Fabregas, Captain of Arsenal, Robin Van Persie and Thomas Vermaelen are still out because of injuries. Van Persie had been missing from Arsenal’s
squad for a very long time now, as he has played only five matches, coming as a substitute in four of them. The injury to Cesc Fabregas has come at a critical point as well, as the midfielder is the key to Arsenal’s attack. Thomas Vermaelen, the centre-half
for Arsenal, has been missing for a long time now, as he played only three matches this season. He is constantly being missed in Arsenal’s squad, especially because the other centre-halves have failed to keep clean sheets for the team.
There have been rumours about Arsene Wenger’s tussle with one of his other strikers, Nicholas Bendtner. With Van Persie outside as well, only Marouane Chamakh remains a viable option. Andrei Arshavin can play as a forward, but
he is not a typical centre-forward and he finds the net less than often. Therefore, it is very bold of Arsene Wenger to say that he would not need any reinforcements in the winter. If something happens to Chamakh as well, Wenger would be left with limited
options in terms of players who can score important goals.
Also, it has been a long time since the pundits and Arsenal fans have been talking about goalkeeping problems. This season, Arsenal had a blessing in disguise when Manuel Almunia got injured. Wenger had a chance to push for a new
goalkeeper but the manager found help in the shape of Lukasz Fabianski. However, Fabianski is not a quality player as he often performs shabbily. Therefore, the goalkeeping problems still exist and Wenger is only in state of denial, rebuffing the idea that
problems exist.
If Arsene Wenger wants to keep his title dreams alive, he would have to go into the transfer market and make some signings, a goalkeeper being a must buy. It would be a great boost for his squad, who have some deficiencies to cover,
before they can be regarded as a threat in the title race.
