Arsenal – Probable starting line-up for the season 2011/2012 (Part 1)
Arsenal are the side who will probably be disappointed after their performance in the previous season. They came close to winning the Premier League title twice; however, with lack of experience on the field, Arsenal failed to do so.
Arsene Wenger kept on playing an inexperienced squad with lack of firepower. With less super stars in the team, Arsene Wenger tried to build a team around young and talented footballers and tried to build team chemistry amongst them so they can play “beautiful”
football and win titles.
Despite the fact that Arsene Wenger managed to accomplish the task where the team has a lot of chemistry, he forgot the fact that experience really matters whenever it comes down to winning trophies. First Arsenal failed to qualify for the FA Cup, then they
lost the League Cup final to Birmingham City. Later, they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Barcelona despite giving out an outstanding performance against one of the best teams in the world.
Arsenal were a total disappointment towards the end of the season. At one end they were about to win the Premier League title and they were the favourites to do so and at the other end, they finished fourth. This means that Arsenal are going to play the
qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League and they are not guaranteed as a spot in the European competition.
This season Arsenal had to play with a lot of different players and different formations as their players suffered from injuries. The French coach, Arsene Wenger decided to change tactics towards the first half of the season and it was really working out
for the North London club. However, with the second half of the season starting, Arsenal looked as if they were tired and Arsene Wenger kept on applying the same tactics against all the teams.
The only positive result in the second half of the season came against Manchester United when Arsenal played a second choice midfield and still managed to beat the table toppers with a goal which was scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Ramsey-c3065 who was replacing the Arsenal captain,
Cesc Fabregas in the midfield.
Arsene Wenger had his favourites in the first half of the season. There were a lot of problems with the goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukasz-Fabianski-c22910 in between the two poles. Fabianski managed to shine for most of the season until he
suffered from an injury as well and Arsenal discovered a talented goalkeeper – http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998.
Even though Arsene Wenger decided to get a goalkeeper on loan – http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jens-Lehmann-c18297 – he was still not better than Wojciech Szczesny, who was totally outstanding against Barcelona throughout the two legs. However, he injured his finger in the return leg to the
Nou Camp and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 won the fixture and his European competition ended within one and a half match.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 had a lot of selection problems with not only the goalkeeper but also the defenders.
