Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger ‘disgusted’ by disallowed goal
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that he is disgusted by a controversial offside decision, which resulted in the Gunners dropping two vital points in the race for top spot in the Barclays Premier League. Wenger’s comments come after Arsenal’s goalless
draw against Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, 5thMarch.
Arsenal went into the match looking to capitalise on Manchester United’s slip-up against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 earlier in the week. A win for the Gunners against Steve Bruce’s men would have brought them to within a point of the Premier League leaders. However, they failed
to take full advantage of the opportunity.
Manager Arsene Wenger believes that his players deserved to win the match. The Gunners boss wasted no time in pointing the finger of blame at the match officials, claiming that a number of questionable decisions ultimately cost his side the match.
The Arsenal manager said, ''I am very happy with the performance, defensively we were very good and gave a lot physically, and I cannot fault the players' attitude." He added that although his side lacked creativity in the final third of the pitch, it was
two key decisions which hit them the hardest.
Wenger was particularly upset about two incidents involving http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrei-Arshavin-c5771. One was Titus Bramble’s push on the Russian’s back as he shaped to shoot – something that Wenger believes deserved a penalty. The other was a seemingly incorrect offside decision,
with the linesman raising his flag after Arshavin had put the ball in the back of the Sunderland net.
Speaking after the match, Wenger said, “'I am too disgusted to speak about these things. What can you say? We put a lot of commitment into the game. I believe Arshavin was not offside, but what can you do?"
He added, "These kind of things have too big an impact on the Premier League and we are really disappointed but we have to take it on the chin for the next game.”
Arsenal are currently in second place in the Premier League standings, three points behind leaders Manchester United.
