Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hopeful Samir Nasri will stay, Chelsea striker on loan to Bolton, Daniel Sturridge grateful to fans
Arsene Wenger urges Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy to stay
Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, revealed he was hopeful 23-year old midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360, would renew his contract with the Gunners, as the end of the season fast approaches.
The French international will be out of contract in the summer and so far has given no indication of wanting to extend his contract with the underperforming and underachieving London side.
Wenger said they had been in touch with the player and his agent over talks over a possible extension of his current contract. The French manager said while speaking to reporters, “We are talking to Nasri and his agent already and we have the same situation with Clichy. We have agreed to speak about it during the summer”.
The same is the case with defender Gael Clichy, who has refused to hold talks over a contract extension, claiming he wanted to wait until the end of the season. With the way things are going it seems Wenger could be facing a mass exodus in the summer. He is currently trying his best to retain players such as, Cesc Fabregas, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463, Samir Nasri, and, Gael Clichy.
Wenger did not feel a lack of silverware was the best reason to leave a club and urged the players to honour their contracts. He continued, “When you sign a contract for four or five years, you are committed through your contract to win trophies with the club where you sign. It is in no contract that if you do not win a trophy the first year, you can leave”.
Arsenal look to end up without a trophy once again, making it their sixth consecutive season under Wenger without silverware.
However, the Frenchman insisted he was not going to give up his policy of promoting youth to match the likes of big spending Manchester City and Chelsea. Though, he did hint of a new addition, or, two, to make the squad more competitive in hopes of doing better next season.
