Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger plays down captaincy issue
Arsene Wenger, the manager of Arsenal has denied any problems within the team regarding the captaincy of Cesc Fabregas, brushing away reports about Denilson criticizing Fabregas after the 3-1 win against Leeds in the FA Cup replay.
The win was a good one for Arsenal, but was marred by the distasteful comments by the Brazilian about Fabregas.

Wenger went on to say that there is no rift between Fabregas and Denilson. The Arsenal boss said that there is good friendship and respect between the two, like any other teammates. He added that Cesc Fabregas is team captain, and Robin Van Persie is his
deputy, but there are many other leaders in the team.
"We have a shared leadership in our team, but I believe Fabregas is an outstanding leader, especially when you consider he's just 23 years old, with that personality and character, and Van Persie as well. I believe what is important in the way we want to
play football is that everyone takes responsibility".
When the news of alleged criticism of Fabregas’ captaincy came out, the Spaniard was quick to clear the air. He asserted that he understood the situation of Denilson, and it was clearly a misunderstanding. Fabregas even posted a picture of the two traveling
on a train together.
Denilson, for his part, was also not far behind in an effort to calm down the situation and make sure that nothing was misunderstood. He made it clear that in no way was he criticizing Fabregas’ captaincy. Denilson said that in his comments after the match,
he said that the team lacked leadership. And he was referring to lack of experienced players in the team, as most of them are of the same age group.
