Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to take a bold risk with Robin van Persie for faceoff with Barcelona
Arsenal’s leading goal scorer and mercurial forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380, has somehow recovered well ahead of time and seems to now be in the running to play against Barcelona.
Van Persie suffered a knee injury against Birmingham in the Carling Cup final on 27th February, 2011, and was ruled out of action for three to four weeks. However, the midfielder seems to have woken up yesterday feeling perfectly well and decided to train
with the team.
The Dutchman was reportedly flawless during the training session and result was immediately boarded on a flight to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 with the rest of his squad mates. As a result, the forward is more than likely to play in the Arsenal-Barcelona faceoff tonight.
This has come as a shock and surprise to both the player’s fans and his harshest critics. This is because Van Persie, if anything, is not known for his resilience and quick recoveries. The player is more often associated with injuries every now and then,
followed by being out for ages.
However, it is still unclear if Van Persie is actually a hundred percent fit or if he is merely pretending to be so that he doesn’t miss one of the most important matches that the team have ever had to play.
Either way, the inclusion of the forward in the squad is going to be one of the biggest risks that Arsene Wenger has taken so far. Robin van Persie, as we know, is one of the most lethal forwards in the world at the moment, but if he is not operating at
a hundred percent, he could potentially aggravate his injury even further and this would result in him being ruled out of action for much longer than anyone would like. Nonetheless, at the moment, it seems like that is a risk Arsene Wenger is willing to take
because beating Barcelona could and most probably would signal the start of a new era at the club.
In more good news for the club, both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 and Cesc Fabregas seem to be on their way to starting for Arsenal. This news is rather brilliant, mainly due to the fact that both the midfielders were crucial for Arsenal in their first-leg win over the
Catalan giants and they would be required to perform at the same level once again for Arsenal to stand any chance at beating Barcelona and qualifying to the
UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
At the moment, the match is too close to call or predict, mainly because both the teams have a number of key personnel missing for the game. However, the right players seem to be showing up for Arsenal, making the team’s chances took brighter. The game to
be played later tonight is going to be one that could go either way, but is guaranteed to be a treat for sore eyes.
At the moment, the Arsenal squad travelling to Spain is:
