Arsenal boss hopeful results at home will improve
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is confident that results will soon begin to pick up for his side at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners have lost three of their seven English Premier League games at home this season, with West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United and fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur all claiming three points from Arsenal on their home patch.
However, Wenger's men have still been able to maintain their position as title challengers with a fearsome away record (the best in the league), seeing them pick up 17 points out of a possible 24 on the road after their 4-2 win over Aston Villa at Villa
Park on Saturday 27 November.
With such a good away record, Wenger believes that it is only a matter of time before his side will replicate that form at home.
He told Sky Sports, "The fact we have away wins, but are not winning so much at home, I feel it is a coincidence. I don't believe we have a mental problem in terms of playing at home. I would prefer to have the problem this way around, rather than
the other way around.
"It is good to know you can win away and, at some stage at home, you know you will get things right. There is no fear about playing at home. Maybe we want to be a bit more urgent at home. Maybe we feel at the start a bit too confident, I don't know."
Arsenal went two goals up against Villa inside the first 45 minutes through Andrey Arshavin and Samir Nasri. Youngster Ciaran Clark hit back for the Villans in the 52nd minute, and Marouane Chamakh restored the two-goal cushion after 56 minutes. Clark netted
again 15 minutes later, but England international Jack Wilshere ensured victory when he scored his first league goal for Arsenal in injury-time.
The Gunners' next chance to pick up a win at home will come when they welcome Fulham to the Emirates on 4 December.
