Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas Throws The Ball To Arsene Wenger
The much talked about Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has understandably told his club, that he wants to leave for his childhood club Barcelona this summer, and end a 7 year term in North London, which saw him mature from a raw talented young boy, to a world class midfielder.
Even though Barcelona has not yet made an official offer to Arsenal yet, but the club did say on Tuesday that the 2 clubs are in contact and an official bid will soon be made.
Fabregas left Barcelona in 2003 for Arsenal, Cesc was part of the youth Academy at camp Nou, but decided to seek some first team action and moved to London.
Fabregas who has learned a lot from his French manager Arsene Wenger, holds his boss in the highest regard and said he has immense "respect" him. Fabregas has had a lengthy discussion with Wenger, and thinks it will be best for him, if he is left alone for now to focus on the upcoming World Cup.
Febregas said: "I will only say one thing, I have great respect for Arsene Wenger, for Arsenal Football Club and for the Arsenal fans," Fabregas said in a press conference. "Sometimes not even in my house have I felt more loved than I have at Arsenal.
The gunner’s captain said his discussion with Wenger was very constructive and one of the most important ones of his life, and his respect for the man remains the same, but refrained from revealing too much about the meeting
"I had a long conversation with Arsene, it is probably the greatest conversation I have had with someone in my life, and I respect him so much and I don't want to say too much about this.
Febregas by far has been the most influential player At arsenal in the last 2 seasons at least, as he has improved his goal scoring ratio, and his leadership skills have also come to the forefront, but once the player decides to leave, no matter how much he is persuaded to stay his heart is just no more with the club, and just as Sir Alex Ferguson had to let go of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, eventually Arsene Wenger would have to give in to his midfielder’s request.Febregas said that his manager has asked him to leave it to him, and concentrate on the World Cup:
"He told me to concentrate on my football, to concentrate on the World Cup. He told me to leave it in his hands and he will deal with whatever happens for my future. That is what I'm doing: concentrating on my football skills.
"It is not up to me anymore, it is just now about Arsenal and however it has to be, that is it. I don't want to say anything else; I just want to be focused on the World Cup because it is the most important thing. The rest is the future, and I am not interested in the future".
Febregas suffered an injury at the end of the season, which saw him sit out the last few games, but he is training hard for national duties, and put his best foot forward for the European Champions in football’s biggest event. And the best thing for him would be that the transfer issue should be settled before the World Cup starts, as then Ferbregas will be able to concentrate on aiding his team’s cause, rather then worrying about which club he will be playing for the next season.
If the Spaniard actually does leave which looks very likely, it will leave a big hole in Arsenal’s already depleted team, which lacks leadership and the one they gave the armband to is ready to abandon them, and Arsene Wenger would really have to dig deep into the club pockets to go out an buy some big names this summer, if he is to keep the faith and trust of the disappointed fans.
