Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas looking to recover quickly from injury
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is trying his level best to return to the squad as soon as he can. The midfielder was injured in the Champions League round of 16 second leg encounter against Barcelona on 8th March, and has not featured for the Gunners
since.
The Spain international could not have picked a worse time to be sidelined. Having been in the running for a possible quadruple at the start of the month, Arsenal were knocked out of three cup competitions in the space of two weeks, after a string of terrible
results saw them exit the Champions League, Carling Cup and FA Cup tournaments.
Fabregas was in the squad for his side’s Champions League exit, but injuries picked up in both games against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 meant he was helpless to stop Arsenal’s downward spiral.
Having initially injured himself at the Emirates Stadium during the 2-1 first leg win over Barcelona, the Gunners captain could only watch from the sidelines, as Premier League strugglers Birmingham City scored a last minute goal in the final of the Carling
Cup to deny his side the coveted trophy.
It only got worse from there, as Arsenal were overcome by a below-par Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. With only the Premier League title left to fight for, the Gunners were dealt yet another blow last weekend. Arsene Wenger’s men dropped
two crucial Premier League points against West Bromwich Albion, allowing leaders Manchester United to open up a five-point lead at the top of the standings.
However, Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has promised to come back from his injury stronger than ever in order to help his side win the Barclays Premier League crown. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 international revealed that he could be back in action sooner than expected.
Fabregas said, “I started running on Monday and everything is getting better. I needed time, because it has been a weird season for me with injuries and I just want to make it right. I want to come back stronger than ever and hopefully fitter than ever so
it won’t happen again.”
He added, "Hopefully you will see me play against Blackburn if I am fit."
Arsenal are currently in second place in the Premier League standings with 58 points. Crucially though, the Gunners still have a game in hand over League leaders Manchester United.
