Arsenal captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 puts contract talks on hold –Premier League Update
Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie has gone on to delay his contact talks at the club and is being rumoured to head down the same road that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 and Cesc Fabregas took at the club.
During the summers, Arsene Wenger was more focused on trying to get Nasri, Clichy and Fabregas to stay at the club and as a result, many of the team’s other players who had a year or two left on their contracts, were over looked for the time being.
As a result, Van Persie has now entered the final year of his contract and needs to put pen to paper on an extension before the Gunners risk losing the player for free.
Following http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s win over Bolton – game which saw Van Persie score his hundredth goal for Arsenal, he was asked about his thoughts on extending his stay at the Emirates. Van Persie however responded by stating that he had no plans of extending his contract
as yet, since he had other priorities at the moment.
The striker, when talking about his contract and his ambitions for the future is quoted to have said:
“I still have almost two years until 2013”
“So for the moment that’s fine, but I don’t know. We will have to look.

“I’m happy with my contract, I’m good. That’s how it is, I can’t say much more. I can’t look into the future.”
The player then went on to add that the more important thing was for the team to play better football and that petty things like contract were the least of his and the team’s worries at this point.

“The main thing for me is the team and that we play well. I do believe you have to look for a right moment to sit down and speak about your own stuff. It’s not only about me, it’s about the team.”

“I don’t want to give the wrong message to speak about my own stuff while the others are a bit more important.”
Despite Arsenal not having the best of starts to their campaign this time around, Van Persie has maintained his immaculate goal scoring record in the league.
Even when the Gunners were falling down all around him, the Gunners captain was scoring the goals for the team. With him now being on his hundredth goal for the team, it is safe to say that he is one of the best players to ever play for the team.
Should the striker maintain this form, then he is more than likely to help the Gunners push for a title or two at the end of the season.
