Arsenal capture Japanese forward Ryo Miyaichi
Arsenal have confirmed the signing of highly rated 18-year-old Japanese forward Ryo Miyaichi who will be joining the club in January 2011.
He's expected to sign a five-year deal after impressing Arsene Wenger during his trial period. The youngster is currently recuperating from a double fracture to his leg suffered during trials with Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam.
He is a popular player in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Japan-c2928 and has already received wide media attention, which isn't a surprise given his pace and skills with the ball on his feet.
His speed and trickery have drawn comparisons to Portuguese winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629, and he's widely touted to go on and scale the heights of European football.
The fact that he's capable of clocking 50m in under six seconds just underlines why he's regarded highly by Wenger and persuaded him to sign a contract with the Gunners.
It's not just the blistering pace that makes him dangerous: His dribbling skills are also exceptional. His guile, pace, dribbling and finishing skills all will be on show once he acclimatises to the Premier League which is just the perfect news to all associated
with the Arsenal Football Club.
This is indeed an admirable signing by Wenger, as his unique ability to spot a budding talent is matched by none. Since Miyaichi is already a popular figure in Japan and arguably the finest young footballer in Asia, this signing also opens a new door for
Arsenal to explore the fertile Asian market.
Miyaichi's signing also ensures that Asia is represented at the club, and this one player would also boost the already monolithic fan base of the artistic North London Club.
It is high time for an Asian player to make a mark in Premier League, as there exists a huge fan following of major English clubs in Asia.
