Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Montpellier forward, Olivier Giroud and could land the player as early as next week.
The striker has had a very impressive season in the French Ligue 1, with him scoring a highly reputable twenty five goals.
At the same time, the French international had been linked with a move to a number of top clubs, but the way things are shaping up, he seems to be destined to be on his way to the Emirates.
The Montpellier manager, Rene Girard, when talking about the possibility of the move happening stated that the player wanted to move and Arsenal were looking to sign him, so there was very little that could happen to stop the move from going through.
Girard is quoted to have said: "Arsenal are very interested and Giroud wants to play in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, if Arsene [Wenger] agrees with the president [Louis Nicollin], he will sign for them".
Giroud is currently playing in the Euro 2012 with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Laurent-Koscielny-c21742 on this trip, in order to pursue a move to the Emirates.
At the moment, a fee of around thirteen million pounds is being suggested to be enough to help http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 land their man, which seems to be a rather decent amount, given how well the striker played this past season.
However, with the Gunners already having signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 is planning on doing.
The Dutch striker is yet to reveal what his future plans are and with Arsenal looking to bring in a couple of strikers, perhaps the time for him to leave the Emirates is finally here.
Nonetheless, the team could also be looking to replace the likes of Bendtner and Chamakh. However, for the time being, nothing is for certain.
It is now going to be a wait for another week or so, to see just how Arsenal play out this transfer and if the team is able to land their target, before another team decides to step in and try their luck at landing him.
