Arsenal club secretary David Miles has gone on to admit that the Gunners are quite pleased with the Champions League group stage pooling.
Miles, when talking about the draws that took place is quoted to have said: "We'll be quietly pleased with the draw.”
"We've never played Marseille in a competitive tournament, so we're looking forward to that one and we've played our other opponents once in the last 15 years, so we're looking forward to it.”
Following the pooling by UEFA, Arsenal are now set to face-off against, Marseille, Olympiacos and Borussia Dortmund. On paper these teams look to be like no big threat to the Gunners, but should they go on to produce any hiccups during the game, then they could potentially fail to make it past the group stages of the tournament.
Arsene Wenger, who was more than delighted over the performance that the team put in against Udinese, to ensure their qualification, has been appreciated by Miles. The manager’s professionalism and character all shone through the Gunners performance, who came back from going a goal down, to win by two goals to one in the game.
Miles then went on to add: "Cynics probably would have said, having gone one-nil down, that we were on our way out"
"But it was a fantastic performance by the team, they showed great resolve in coming back –http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998’s penalty save was fantastic, and we're delighted to be here."
Miles was then asked the mother of all questions, as the club secretary was questioned over if this win could prove to be the turning point of the Gunners season.
In response to that, Miles simply stated: "I hope so.”
It is rather amazing to realize that Arsenal are currently in just their second week of the season and they have already played a game which has potentially determined the rest of their season. Had Arsenal lost to Udinese, then the Gunners would have fallen into a well that would have no escape in the near future.
The Gunners would have potentially lost another player or two, would have had a much smaller amount of funds to spend in the market and their season would have become a real challenge.
However, with the team managing to prove that they still have what it takes to go up against some of the best teams in the world, it is safe to say they are going to be rearing to go for the rest of the season, in order to prove a point and silence their critics.
