Arsenal comeback to win 2-1 against Everton
Arsenal came back from a goal down to beat Everton 2-1 in a midweek English Premier League clash.
Toffees had taken a first half lead through a controversial goal by Louis Saha, where he appeared to have been off side.
Gunners worked hard to get on level terms but Everton stood firm away from home. It was the troubled Russian Andrey Arshavin, who got hold of an ill directed back pass to make it 1-1 and in the end Koscielny, did well to get his head on the ball following
a corner and got the winner.
Arsenal were not at all at their best throughout the game, and the typical one touch silky Arsenal football was nowhere to be seen.  But still they managed to show enough grit and determination to come out with the result that they needed.
For Everton though it was a frustrating night in the end, the away side ended up losing the match even after getting the better of Arsenal for most of the game.
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marouane-Fellaini-c24295 were in top form for the away team.
After the win Arsenal remain 5 points adrift of Manchester United, who won their game against Aston Villa the same night.
As the match kicked off it was Everton, who enjoyed the lion’s share of possession. Jack Wilshere was the first man to go into the book following a foul on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mikel-Arteta-c25715.
Arsenal gradually started to claw their way back in the game, and Fabregas was the first man to have a shot at goal. The Spaniard’s shot was inches wide,’ and moments later Theo Walcott’s shot was stopped by Tim Howard’s legs.
Everton finally took a controversial lead on the 24 minute mark. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Louis-Saha-c22459 was clearly in an off side position.
The French striker easily slotted it home, while Arsenal players rushed to the line’s man claiming an off side. But the assistant referee said that the defender’s touch played Saha onside and the goal stood.
Arsenal responded quickly and Van Persie’s corner was well deflected by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Djourou-c18779 but Koscielny’s header was inches wide.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 did well to open up Everton’s backline, but his pass to Van Persie was intercepted by Howard. The half time came with Everton in the lead and the home fans made their feeling known with boos aimed towards the referee.
Arsene Wenger made changes for the 2nd half and they seemed to have an effect on the game. In the end it took a defensive error from Everton to let Arsenal in.
Rodwell was the man, who tried to intercept the pass from Cesc Fabregas but only managed in passing it onto Andrey Arshavin. The Russian easily slotted the ball home and got the game level.
Arsenal had got the bit between their teeth and in the final third of the game continued to attack Everton’s goal.
The winner finally came 15 minutes from time. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 and the Dutchman sent in a threatening ball that was met by Koscheilny
and he headed in the all important 2nd goal for Arsenal.
It was not a typical Arsenal win but they would be happy to get away with 3 points and keep on the tail of Manchester United, who sit, 5 points clear on top of the table.
