Arsenal confirm the capture of Gervinho from Lille – Premier League Update
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has gone on to finally confirm the capture of Gervinho from Lille. The forward had been linked with a move to Arsenal, for most part of the summer transfer window and it seems like the Gunners have
The Ivory Coast international managed to pick up fifteen goals and ten assists last season and in doing so, he helped Lille win their first French title in fifty seven years. However, Gervinho’s efforts didn’t end there, as he also helped Lille win the French
cup at the same time.
The forward is rumoured to have cost Arsenal around £10.6 million, but, so far, the fee has not been confirmed.
Arsene Wenger went on to confirm the capture of Gervinho, immediately after Arsenal arrive in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Malaysia-c2949 for their pre-season tour.
It is now also reported that Arsenal had agreed personal terms with the twenty four year old, last month. However, the only problem that had occurred, was the inability of the Gunners to agree a fee with Lille over the player’s transfer.
Despite having signed the player in time for the tour of the far East, Gervinho will not be making the trip, or featuring in the tour. The player is set to fly to the Emirates and get some medical check-ups, while being trained by the fitness coaches, in
order for him to be in top shape, when the Gunners return from their tour.
The signing of Gervinho, is actually http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s second signing of the season. The team previously went on to sign Carl Jenkinson from Charlton Athletic, much earlier.
Wenger is currently hoping for his latest signing to aid the team’s hunt for silverware this coming season, after spending six years without the taste of a trophy.
The arrival of Gervinho has also potentially marked the end of Nicklas Bendtner’s career at the Emirates. The Danish striker had been linked with a move out of the club for quite some time and with a new striker coming into the team, he is bound to push
for an exit.
Nonetheless, it is still unclear as to what Wenger has in store for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755. Given that the forward has ample pace, he could be used as a left winger, or a striker. At the moment, the manager is staying rather quiet about his plans and has stated that he
will deal with them once he returns from the pre-season tour.
With Gervinho now in the bag, the Gunners are bound to turn their attention to some defensive options in the near future.
