Arsenal defence concerns, buy and sell options (Part 2)
(Who should Gunners sell in January to buy new players?)
Manuel Almunia
Without a doubt, Almunia’s name comes first in the mind. It is very obvious that the Spanish goalkeeper would be the first player on Arsenal’s hit list. Unless Almunia begins performing strongly, it is unlikely fans will be keen to keep him.
With Arsenal boasting of the promising young keepers, who are desperate and growing increasingly frustrated for chances, Gunners veteran goalkeeper Almunia may have to make way for either a new signing, or either Vito Mannone or Wojciech Szczesny.
Moreover, Vito Mannone and Wojciech Szczesny have displayed in their very few chances for Arsenal and on loan that they are exceptionally talented and are blessed with the correct traits to become Arsenal’s future number one goalie.
But the duo had constantly endured and witnessed the consistent errors from their “experienced" keepers. The young pair of Arsenal is desperate to prove their worth at Emirates. The talented duo is hungry to engrave their names in the starting eleven of
the Gunners.
If Almunia continued his horrible form, then one would expect to see him depart.
Lukasz Fabianski
If Fabianski continues with his unimpressive performances, then supporters and surely Arsenal’s boss will become very frustrated and admit he was a rare mistake. The Polish shot stopper does show traces of great talent but too often that limelight is overshadowed
by the darkness of silly mistakes.
It is almost inevitable for the 25-year old keeper to become a dominant goalie of Arsenal. Unless, he starts performing between the posts, there are few chances of Fabianski staying at Emirates. So, one can expect Fabianski to leave Arsenal in January.
Andrei Arshavin
Andrei Arshavin has had a lacklustre start to his current campaign, despite scoring five times in this season. The Russian magician has too often shown signs of laziness and disinterest. The magical touch from Arshavin is missing in this campaign, despite
being the most consistent player for Arsenal.
Moreover, there are a number of talented young guns waiting patiently in the reserves, which have shown their abilities. It is hard for the youngsters to receive any chances as Arshavin is seen as the predominant left winger for Arsenal.
Arsenal would be able to offload Andrei for some good amount that will progress toward signing a World class midfield magician.
Johan Djourou
Johan Djourou was overflowed with promise and potential before a serious injury made him absent for the whole of last season. Djourou's horrible injury has left the 23-year old lacking pace and control on the ball.
Djourou has only played a single match for the Gunners this season. He featured against Serbian Giants Partizan in an UEFA Champions League fixture. The imposing Swiss clearly lacked control on ball. Moreover, he was out gunned by speedy Partizan forwards.
Arsenal will be surely looking for an extra defender. Selling Johan Djourou for a healthy amount would enable Arsene Wenger to extend his price range and buy high priced players.
Emmanuel Eboue
Emmanuel Eboue can be a joy to watch due to his extra energy and lively smile, but it appears that too often the Ivorian international is somewhat of a liability and is halting the progress of upcoming young starlets.
Eboue is often utilized as a winger on the right flank. The 27-year old, predominantly is a right back and is often overlooked to veteran right back Bacary Sagna. There are a number of talented youngsters waiting patiently in the academies.
