Mertesacker was signed from Werder Bremen on the deadline day of the transfer window by Arsenal. The player is said to have cost the team a fee around the region of eight million pounds.
Following his move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Mertesacker has admitted that he has always been a big fan for the Gunners and has been following the team since he was a little boy and that is why he is well aware of the team’s history.

to be partnering Mertesacker at the back.
Hence, it is now going to be up to Mertesacker to lead the team’s defensive line, considering he is the most experienced player that the team have at the back.
However, Mertesacker seems to be willing to take up that opportunity, as he wishes to give the team the same level of performances that Tony Adams did.

Nonetheless, despite that fact, Mertesacker has admitted that he won’t let his excitement get the better of him, as his primary mission is to prove his worth at the club and to help Arsenal get back to their winning ways.
