Arsenal defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Vermaelen-c35002 disappointed with season ending injury – EPL news
Arsenal and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026 in a Euro
2012 qualifier and has not featured regularly since then.
The player was expected to miss just a few games initially, but the nature of injury has kept Vermaelen on the sidelines. The 25-year-old had to undergo surgery in January after the nagging problem restricted his first team appearances. Vermaelen was expected
to return in six weeks, but the rehabilitation period is taking longer than expected. Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has ruled out the Belgian for the rest of the season.
Vermaelen is understandably upset for not featuring in the ongoing campaign but promises to work on his fitness and be ready for the start of the next campaign.
Vermaelen said, "The chances that I will play another game this season are small. I can understand my manager when he says that my season is over. I have been out for seven months and I must fulfill a complete 'pre-season', so it's logical that he won't
take risks. Time is ticking away and the season finishes in two months. I must first get fit again, then gain rhythm. So I've still a long way to go. I can kick a ball as hard as possible, but that's not my problem. I need to run without pain."
Reports suggest that Vermaelen was so eager to make his return that he was running the risk of aggravating his injury. The Gunners medical staff had to cool down the player in order to avoid further damage to his tendon.
Vermaelen has expressed his gratitude towards his teammates who have been continuously supporting him through difficult times. Vermaelen singled out http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 for praise. The Dutchman is no stranger to these problems as he has been struggling with
various injuries ever since he arrived in London – surely, his advice will be helpful.
