Arsenal demanding Higuain for Fabregas from Real Madrid
The ‘Fabregas Saga’ has taken a new turn. The Arsenal board has issued an official statement to transfer Cesc Fabregas to Real Madrid. But they will definitely look for money in the deal and the non-negotiable term would be the return of Argentinean maestro Gonzalo Higuain.
Sources have confirmed that the Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is willing to give away his relished skipper only if Higuain is included in the deal. This comes after the Spanish mid-fielder Fabregas conveyed that he trusts Wenger and that he would probably be going to Barcelona.
The Catalans have long since desired the star and have made constant efforts to get him. After contacting him on a number of times, they offered a €30 million deal but it was rejected by the board as they did not want Barca to pry Fabregas from them at such a meagre price. It is estimated that the prodigy values around of €50 million.
Sources have told that Real Madrid is much more willing to offer the Dutch midfielder Rafael Van der Vaart to the Gunners. The other clause is that they would offer Higuain €35 million, which is €10 million less than what they are will to pay for Fabregas.
The 22-year-old Spanish star may be shifted in the end to Barca though, as this might just turn out to be a setup from Wenger to increase the ace’s price. It might work out well for both teams - Barcelona being the champions of La Liga this season and Real Madrid coming to a close second - the rivalry between the two clubs has increased so both must be eager to obtain the young maestro. After the lengthy conversation that Fabregas and Wenger had in order to clarify things between them, Cesc told, “He (Wenger) told me to concentrate on my football and to concentrate on the World Cup”. While further explaining the issue, he said, “He told me to leave it in his hands and he will deal with whatever happens with my future. That's what I'm doing, just concentrating on football”.
However, the news is a flow by him that he would be leaving for Barca at the end of the World Cup. Wenger seems to know that as he has started finding new mid-fielders and has signed in new players.
If the top-notch player eventually travels to Spain to join the Catalan Giants, then he would join his fellow Spaniards Xavi, Iniesta and Gerard Pique who are already starring with the club. Quite recently, David Villa has also arrived from Valencia to join them.
All of them have already made statements for Fabregas to return to his original club. Fabregas was originally trained under the Barcelona football programme and it was from here when he started his career. Eventually though, he had to shift to the then rising power of the North Londoners in September 2003, as he was constantly in the shadows of the already star-studded team with players like Xavi and Iniesta.
While talking about Cesc, Lionel Messi explained, “Cesc has a place for Arsenal in his heart, but he has Barcelona in his blood. He will want to win the biggest prizes in football, and I expect him to do that at Barcelona”.
Messi too was unaware of the transfer proceedings when he said, “I don’t exactly know when that will be, but I expect him to be my Barcelona team-mate again at some point. I am sure that Arsene Wenger and Cesc have a father-son relationship and I know that he has a very special relationship with the Arsenal fans”.
He also complemented the star when he said, “When you grow up at a club, it is more than just a club. The coaches, the players, the people in the club will be like family. But Barcelona is his city and it is the club of him and his family. There are only a few players in the world who can improve this squad we have but Cesc is one of them.”
Higuain on the other side has said that he would like to end his career at Real Madrid. He believed that the team and the city were his second home and it would be fantastic for him to make a warm return from where he started his career.
Although Fabregas is still under contract with the Gunners till 2014, but with such a turmoil happening between the clubs, Fabregas will be bound to make a transfer sooner than later.
