Arsenal favourite to land Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg – Premier League news
Following rumours that Ajax and Holland’s first-choice goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Stekelenburg-c22998 was on his way to join Manchester United, it has now been reported that the keeper is on his way to the Emirates instead.
This dramatic change in emphasis for the player’s future came shortly after he came forth and made his future plans very clear.
Stekelenburg is reported to have said, “If an offer from Arsenal arrives, I will leave.”
Those words from the 28-year-old shot stopper make it clear as to what his intent is for the future. However at the same time the only thing that is potentially standing in the way from the move actually going through are Arsenal themselves.
This is because they are well aware of the fact that in order to secure the player, they might have to break the bank and pay in the region of 15 million pounds. Arsenal being a team who normally do not resort to spending that much cash on a player, are
going to be caught in a dilemma since if they do make the offer for the player, they are almost guaranteed to secure his services- unless they decide to spend pennies on another unknown player instead.
Nonetheless, it also appears that Arsenal might face some threat from the Italian side Juventus to land the keeper. The team seem to be looking to finally let http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833 leave the club in order to create some funds at the club.
However if looked at it by taking a step back, this just means that not only do Arsenal have the option of landing Stekelenburg, but if they play their cards right, they could potentially land Italian living legend Buffon instead.
At the moment, the cards seem to by laying themselves out rather well for the Gunners, who seem to finally be getting some sort of luck in the transfer market. That is of course only as long as the team does not axe itself in the foot for some unknown reason
again.
If Arsenal are to secure the services of either of the two keepers- which they most probably should by now, it is almost certain to spell the end of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Almunia’s career at the Emirates. Sad as it may sound, the fact is that the Spaniard on his way out
of the team might not cause too many heartbreaks at the club.
At the same time, this would mean that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998 would finally get a loan deal, which would see him better hone his skills before returning to the Gunners camp to claim the number one jersey in the future.
