Arsenal forward and Ivory Coast international, Gervinho has gone on to reveal that his family firmly believed that he shouldn’t play football, back when he was a child.
The forward however believes that, had he not become a footballer, he wouldn’t know what to do with himself.
Gervinho, when talking about his family and the possibility of not becoming a footballer is quoted to have said:  “I don’t know what I would have done had I not become a footballer”
“I’ve always wanted to do that, even when my family would try to stop me playing football so that I went to school.”

“They wanted me to go to a normal school. They felt it was a bit risky as the academy was new and not really known. I had to bring someone who had faith in my skills to convince them.

“I started playing at my local estate club. I used to wake up every morning to go to play in the club. I loved it so much, it brought a lot of wonderful things in my life.”
Gervinho went on to join Le Mans in 2007 and represented the club up until 2009. During his time with the team, he went on to make sixty seven appearances, while scoring fourteen goals and picking up eight assists.
He then moved on to join Lille in 2009 and stayed with the team until 2011. During his stay with Lille, he made ninety three appearances for the French side, while scoring thirty six goals and picking up fifteen assists along the way.
Since then, the Ivorian has been signed by Arsenal, for whom he has made eighteen appearances, while scoring three goals and gotten seven assists.
All in all, Gervinho has proven to be one of the most consistent players to play the game, having scored goals and created numerous others during his stay with every team that he represented.
At the moment, the forward is trying to adjust to life with Arsenal and still has a long way to go, before he is considered to be amongst the best that the team has to offer.
However, should he maintain his form, he can easily become a legend at the club, over the course of the coming few seasons.
