Arsenal given glimmer of hope over the capture of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marvin-Martin-c24496 from Sochaux
Arsenal have been given a glimmer of hope, over the potential capture of French international Marvin Martin from Sochaux.
The Gunners have been in the hunt to land the player for around six months now, but failed to secure a deal for him in the summer transfer window. However, based on the way things are shaping up, the team might just be able to land the midfielder in January.
Martin’s current deal with the club has him tied down to the French side until 2014. However, it seems like Sochaux are now looking to offer the player a one year extension on his contract with the club. At the same time, the team is willing to offer the
player a higher salary, while placing a much higher buyout clause in his contract.
Despite many considering this to be anything but good news for the team, we need to look at Arsenal’s previous dealings with French clubs. The last time Arsenal wanted to land a creative midfielder, it was when they were looking to land Samir Nasri from
Marseille. Back then, the midfielder was in a very similar situation with his club. He had a couple of years left on his contract, but was offered an immediate one year extension, with a much higher buyout clause placed in the contract.
Based on that fact, we can now believe that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 are closer than they have ever been to landing Martin. The player’s new buyout is placed around the region of twenty million pounds and that is a fee that Arsenal now seem to be more than willing to pay.
Martin has gone on to win over a number of critics with his performances for club and country over the course of the last few months. The player has been the pivotal force for Sochaux and has even gone on to replace form Arsenal midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 in
the French national team on a number of occasions. As a result, he seems to be the perfect player to come into the Emirates and fill in the void that Nasri created when he left for Manchester City.
Arsenal went on to land Samir Nasri and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yossi-Benayoun-c37520 in the summers, but despite that fact, there is still a lot of room for improvement in the team. The Gunners really need a creative midfielder who can run at a defender or two, while picking out passes
and scoring goals every now and then. Based on those characteristics, Martin seems to be just what Arsenal need to complete their midfield.
