Koln felt that Podolski was looking to make a move out of the club because he was looking get a pay raise. However, with the player claiming that an increase in his wages wouldn’t change his mind, a number of teams including Arsenal are looking to make a
move for the German international.
Podolski feels that he can’t have a very bright future if he sticks around at the German club and hence he is looking to move elsewhere, in hopes of a brighter future.

"But for my future, other things are more important. For me, the financial aspect is not decisive."
At the same time, the striker has revealed that he would only remotely consider sticking around at Koln, if the team was to reinforce itself and bring in a number of new players.
"In the talks there were definitely no numbers discussed," the 26-year-old claimed.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for Podolski for over a year now, but for some odd reason, Arsenal never really went on to make a formal offer for the striker.
However, despite that fact, the team is now looking to capitalize on the uncertainty at the German club as they look to secure the players capture at the end of the season.

Podolski is a player who can play on the left flank, as a lone striker, as a second striker and even as a creative/offensive midfielder if needed.
Wenger is well aware of the versatility that the striker possesses, but never made a move for him because he felt that Koln would quote a price that he wouldn’t be willing to pay for him.
Nonetheless, with the player now willing to move out of the club, the Gunners could easily land the striker at a bargain price.
