Arsenal hoping for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Laurent-Koscielny-c21742 to feature in Carling Cup final
Arsenal management is sweating over the fitness of star players Robin van Persie and Laurent Koscielny for their crucial Carling Cup final.
Both the players were instrumental in their recent 2-1 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the Champions League but have been pulled out of the fixture against Stoke City in the Premier League.
Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger was hopeful that both of the players would be available for the Carling Cup final against Birmingham City on Sunday.
This is Arsenal’s first chance on winning a trophy in nearly five years. Their last attempt was in 2005 when they won the FA Cup against rivals Manchester United on penalties.
Striker van Persie has been instrumental for Arsenal in recent weeks and has been scoring a lot. The player has found the back of the net five times in the last three fixtures but had to be withdrawn out of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s embarrassing 1-1 draw against Leyton
Orient.
“We do not have Van Persie available or Koscielny and (Thomas) Vermaelen has a long-term (Achilles) injury. Van Persie has a hamstring problem and Koscielny has a back problem but they both have a chance to be involved on Sunday,” stated the Arsenal manager.
However, Wenger refused to panic, especially for his depleted back line which has been boosted by the form and fitness of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Djourou-c18779 and Sebastien Squillaci. Both the players are deemed fit for the Premier League clash against Stoke City.
“Johan Djourou missed out on Sunday but he is better and will play tomorrow,” confirmed the Frenchman.
The Gunners remain the only side in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 who are competing in four different competitions and have reached the final of one. The have every chance of completing a never-before-seen quadruple of trophies, should they find success in all four competitions.
Robin van Persie and Koscielny would be required to complete such a dream and the manager looks forward to having both the players fit sooner rather than later.
