Arsenal interested in Lucho Gonzalez of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 – Ligue 1 news
Reports in French media suggest that English Premier League side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 FC manager Arsene Wenger is keen on bringing Argentine international Lucho Gonzalez to the Emirates as the Frenchman looks to find a replacement for Cesc Fabregas who left the Gunners
for La Liga giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 a few days back.
The former AS Monaco coach is on the lookout for a playmaker in his side and sees the 30-year-old Olympique de Marseille man as one of those players whom he would like to buy. However, it appears that Arsene Wenger is reluctant to sign the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186
man permanently and wants to bring Gonzalez on loan.
Lucho Gonzalez on the other hand has also been linked with a move away from the Stade Velodrome for a long time but the club has failed to receive any worthy offer for the influential playmaker.
AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and Malaga were also interested in Gonzalez but a concrete proposal never arrived and the Argentine is still a Marseille player for whom he has started the season brightly.
While talking to the media, Marseille coach Didier Deschamps said that Arsenal are interested in the player but are only looking to bring the player on loan at the London club.
“I spoke to Arsene Wenger and he wants Lucho. But he wants him on loan as he is willing to invest only on young players. A loan move is not an option for us so negotiations have not started at all,” the 42-year-old manager was quoted saying.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 was initially under the radar of Valencia but the Spaniard is also reluctant
to join Arsenal which means that Wenger is now short of options.
For now, Wenger is reportedly in contact with Marseille chairman Vincent Labrune in order to whip out a deal for Lucho Gonzalez. A fee in the region of eight million Euros is believed to be enough to sign the midfielder and with Arsenal going to receive
around 65 million Euros for the sales of Fabregas and Nasri, Wenger should be able to afford Gonzalez.
Though Gonzalez is nearing the twilight of his career, his arrival at the Emirates would definitely be welcomed by the Gunners’ fans who are discontent with the club’s manager’s failure to sign a big name player this summer.
