Arsenal is brimming with confidence: Arsene Wenger
Arsene Wenger has claimed that the Gunners are confident ahead of their Premier League match against West Ham United despite losing to Ipswich Town in the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
Arsenal, who have not scored a single goal from an open play in the last three matches, will play their next Premier League match against the bottom placed West Ham United.
Arsene Wenger claims that his team is brimming with confidence and they have belief that they will triumph at Upton Park tonight.
The Gunners' boss told the reporters, "We are on a good run in the Premier League, we believe in our strengths, that is why it is always important to respond strongly to disappointments. We are of course sorry and we want to put things right in the second leg. We had a completely average performance."
West Ham United also played the Carling Cup semi-final against Birmingham City last Wednesday and despite being one man down, the Hammers won the match by two goals to one.
West Ham United have been performing somewhat impressively in the recent days as they have lost only once in their last seven Premier League fixture.
However, Arsene Wenger says he is fully aware of West Ham’s recent form and insists that Arsenal will need to be at their best in order to win all three points against the Hammers.
"It is a Premier League game and it is a derby; this season the Premier League has been very tight in every game and so we expect us to completely produce a top-level performance to win the game, that is what we want to achieve. If you play like that [1-0 loss at Ipswich] at West Ham you will lose. We will not play like that at West Ham and we want to win at West Ham".
The French manager added that their utmost priority is to get all three points against West Ham United and to close down the gap between the league leaders, Manchester United.
Arsenal have already beaten Avram Grant’s West Ham United earlier in the first half of the season at Emirates Stadium and they would be aiming for another three points against the Hammers on Saturday.
