Arsenal keeper keen to extend loan stay at Hull City
Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone says that he would be keen to extend his loan stay at Football League Championship side Hull City.
The 22-year-old Italian has played in the last three league games for the Tigers after taking over from Matt Duke in the first team.
His loan deal at the KC Stadium is set to finish in January, but Mannone claims that he would be eager to stay with Hull beyond that time to gain valuable experience.
He told the Hull Daily Mail, “I'm just focusing on the coming games, but when we get to the end of December, we can discuss what happens next.
"I'm happy enough to stay and why not? If everything is going well, I'm playing and the club is happy with me. I need to speak to Arsenal and they need to speak to Hull and then they need to talk together, we'll take it from there."
Mannone made his debut for Hull in a game against Preston North End on Saturday 13 November and kept a clean sheet as Richard Garcia and Nick Barmby gave the side a 2-0 win. He pulled off an impressive save at 1-0 when he tipped a long-range effort by Iain
Hume off the post to maintain the advantage.
The goalkeeper also excelled in the 1-0 win over Ipswich Town the following Saturday, with one incident of note seeing him punch away the ball to help defender Kamil Zayatte avoid scoring an own goal around the half-hour mark.
Mannone conceded his first two goals at Hull when Middlesbrough strikers Leroy Lita and Scott McDonald both headed past him on 27 November, but Robert Koren and Anthony Gerrard ensured that Hull were able to leave the Riverside Stadium with a share of the
points in a 2-2 draw.
The keeper's performances in the last three games have helped Hull move out of the relegation zone, two points clear of Crystal Palace, who is currently in 22nd place.
